Justine Kurland was born in Warsaw, New York, in 1969. She received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts, NY and her MFA from Yale University. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at The Museum of Modern Art, NY; National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC and the International Center of Photography, NY. With idyllic scenes of mothers and children in natural settings, Justine Kurland’s work captures eloquently our collective desire to be at peace in a world without fear or violence, one with nature. She gives voice to the aspirations of all women, across cultures and throughout generations, to be safe, to be free and truly who they were meant to be.
